Samuel Lee Johnson was born August 29, 1953, to the proud union of Hiram Johnson, Sr., and Mary Milton Johnson in Waterproof, Louisiana.
Samuel Lee Johnson confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. In 2009, he moved to St. Joseph, LA, and on November 12, 2011, he married Barbara Elliott. Shortly afterwards, he joined Pilgrim Chapel Church under pastorship of Pastor Isaiah Ross. Samuel Johnson served as an assistant pastor until his death.
Reverend Samuel was a pillar to his community, and he was loved and respected by everyone he came in contact with. He never met a stranger, and he was always ready to share the word of God with others. He was a Correction’s Officer with Madison Parish Correction Center and served on the police force for the Town of St. Joseph. Samuel enjoyed watching Western movies, all types of sports, and spending time with his family, especially during the holidays. He was a huge fan of the University of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Johnson, Sr., & Mary Milton; one daughter, LaTryce Johnson; two sisters, Naomi Hubbard and Lucy Smith
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 8 years, Barbara Johnson of St. Joseph, LA; four daughters, Mahogany Allen of Port Arthur TX, Mary Shemeka Johnson, Shanna Johnson, and LaDidda Johnson, all of Ypsilanti MI; three stepchildren, Stephanie Elliott of Monroe, LA, Eddie Elliott of Baton Rouge, LA, and DeVonda Elliott of Pearl, MS; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Hiram (Tonya) Johnson, Jr. of New Orleans LA; three sisters, Rosie White of Ferriday, LA, Ruthie Jones (David) of New Orleans, and Olivia Milton of Dallas TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
