Huey P. Shoemaker was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana, on December 20, 1931, to the blessed union of the late Joe Shoemaker and Belle Anderson Shoemaker. He was baptized at the tender age of 75 as a member of First Colored MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Roosevelt England. On February 20, 2019, 8:00 PM, Huey P. received the Master’s call surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Shoemaker; his parents, Joe and Belle Shoemaker; two daughters, Ernestine Shoemaker and Shirley Ann Shoemaker; and brothers, Joe Shoemaker, Jr. (Rosemary), James Shoemaker, John Shoemaker (Faye), David Shoemaker, Eddie Shoemaker, and James Shoemaker (Maudine).
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Pamela Williams, Sharon Williams, Nicole Williams, Cassandra Johnson (Londell), Beverly Shoemaker, Donna Faye Shoemaker, Nazerea Shoemaker, Evonne Shoemaker, Johnny Shoemaker, and Huey P. Shoemaker, Jr.; sister, Rosie Wilson; three special nephews, Wilbert Shoemaker, Roger Shoemaker, and Joe Shoemaker; his “crew”, Terry Cooper, David Williams, Jeffrey Ford, and Don Strange; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
