James Walter Brown, Sr.,
was born March 15, 1936, to the late John and Aquilla Brown. Three sisters, four brothers, and three children, James, LaShell, and Joyce, preceded him in death.
James aka J.W., accepted Christ at an early age in Delhi, LA. Later he moved to Lake Providence, LA, and joined China Grove Baptist Church, where he remained an active member until his health began to decline.
He met and married Helen Martin and to this union five children were born.
In the hours of April 15, 2019, God sent an angel to Lake Providence to select another worker in His vineyard. His choice was our dear beloved father, James Walter Brown, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gloria Stewart Brown; four children, Edith (James) Gipson, James (Linda) Brown, Edna (Tony) Wilmore, all of Lake Providence, LA, and Sherry (Malik) King of Dallas, TX; three sisters, Frances Williams of Yazoo City, MS, Myra Brown of Indianapolis, IN, and Margie Stewart of Racine, WI, one brother, Willie Earl Brown, Sr., of North Carolina; two godchildren; four best friends, C.B. Wilson, Dennie Turner, B. Harvey and McKinley Hawthorne; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
