Mamie Winters Obituary

Mother Mamie Lee Winters was born on October 27, 1937, to the late proud parents Lawrence and Ella Russell in Delta, Louisiana. She was blessed to have another set of parents, Charlie and Velma Hardy, Sr., who raised and loved her as their own.

On May 25, 2019, the loving hands of our Lord and Savior, lifted into eternal life our beloved mother, Mamie Lee-Russell-Hardy-Winters.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She loved the Lord; you could often find her reading her Bible or just humming songs. During her Christian journey, she touched many lives. She worked in the healthcare field until she retired. She later relocated to Oakland, California, and then in 2005 to Monroe, Louisiana. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with family.

Mamie Lee Winters had a beautiful spirit. She had a loving heart and always willing to help anyone she could.

She often gave words of wisdom to live by and had a great sense of humor.

During her Christian Journey, she contributes to the Lord’s work and was a part of many ministries in the church including the Mother’s Board.

Her passion to love for others allowed her to help with raising many children who have gone on to have friends for lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Dennis. She leaves to treasure her loving memory: two brothers, Eugene Russell (Elzada) of Chicago, IL, and Charlie Hardy, Jr. (Viola) of Lake Providence, LA; six sons, Cornelius Hardy (Tracy) of Kennedale, TX, James Winters (Nicey) of Tallulah, LA, Jasper Winters (Velma) of Monroe, LA, Kenny Winters (LuThola) of Fort Worth, TX, Vernon Winters (Yolanda) and Vertis Winters (LaQuana), both of Houston, TX; one daughter, Patricia Tave (Larry); a special best friend whom she loved as a sister, Addie Washington of Tallulah, LA; and a wealth of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
