Mr. George Silas Townsend was born to the proud parentage of Mr. Beverly and Mrs. T’Ana Townsend on August 19, 1951, in Madison Parish. George was the third child of 13 children.
“Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee.” ~ Jeremiah 1:5
Mr. George Silas Townsend attended schools in Madison Parish and graduated from Reuben McCall High School. Mr. Townsend was commissioned into the United States Army in 1973.
Mr. Townsend served in Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq, as well as Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, in Desert Storm in the Gulf War. He also served at Fort Polk and Fort Knox and was honorably discharged in 1992, in Fort Benning, Georgia, and moved home to Tallulah, Louisiana.
This is where Mr. George Silas Townsend met and married his wife, Paulla Rambo, in 1996, and remained married for 23 years until his death.
Mr. Townsend’s hobbies were playing basketball, watching football, and doing yard work.

Mr. George Silas Townsend is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Beverly Townsend; one son, Derrick Townsend; three sisters, Lucinda Freeman, Mary Townsend, and Sandra Townsend; and one brother, Gregory Townsend.
Mr. George Silas Townsend leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Paulla Sheree Rambo Townsend; one daughter, Brandy (Jerry) Townsend of Tallulah, LA; and two sons, Avionne (Tawanda) Reese of Colorado, and Silas (Betty Jo) Reese of Maryland.
Mr. Townsend also leaves: his precious mother, Mrs. T’Ana Townsend; two sisters, Margret of Georgia, and Deborah (David) of Los Angeles; six brothers, Beverly (Galrica), Patrick (Jessie) of Tallulah, LA, Willie Lee (Annie B.) of Georgia, Maurice (Sharika) of Vicksburg, Ronnie (Gabriele) of Clarksville, and Phillip (Vincent) of Austin; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends; and special grandchildren, Ann Jerrica, Ken Darrion, and Jerry.
