One winter day, March 15, 1950, a baby girl was born to the proud parents, William Mitchell, Sr., and the late Lovie Holman Mitchell. Named Patricia but often called “Patty”, she was the first daughter and the second child of six siblings. This gave her the responsibility of helping to care for her younger siblings.
She attended the schools of East Carroll Parish, and upon graduation, Pat moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend A.J. Harvey. She joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church. She later joined Union Baptist .
She married Henry Albert and later married Eugenie Martin. She was the mother of three children, Tina, Louis, and Derek, who preceded her in death.
In May of 2016, Patricia moved to Burleson, Texas.
Her family pays this tribute: “Brown Sugar” was loving and kind in her own way. We will sorely miss her and realize that we will never forget those small deeds that will take up the most room in our hearts.
Basically, keeping to herself, she loved her old movies, diet cokes, and popcorn.
During the early morning hours of July 21, 2019, God called Patricia home.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Lovie Mitchell; a son Derek; a sister, Joann; and a brother William Jr.
Cherishing her memories are: a daughter, Tina (Alani) Agbaakim of Lagos Nigeria; son, Louis (Zulaya) Mitchell of Burleson, Texas; her father, William (Venda) Mitchell, Sr. of Tallulah, Louisiana; three sisters, Barbara Brown of Lake Providence, Louisiana, Shirley (Reverend Frank) Holden of Sondheimer, Louisiana, and Margaret Hawkins of Shreveport, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Eugenie, Tamara, Erica, Toni, Antionette and Ashanti; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
