Sister Tommie Powell was born on October 8, 1931, to Lubertha Allen and Tommie Robinson in Tallulah, LA. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior on August 26, 1946 at Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend L.H. Henderson. She received her education from Thomastown High School, and worked as a domestic worker for E.C. Woodyear for many years. She was a member of St. John M.B. Church, pastored by Reverend Anthony L. Guice, until her death.
She married Albert Powell, Jr., on November 25, 1952, and to this union ten children were born.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Albert Powell, Jr.; parents, Lubertha and Tommie; sons, Lyndell and Don Powell; grandsons, James Powell, Jr., and Carl Robinson, Jr.; and brothers, Alonzo and Leroy Watson.
She leaves to mourn: eight children, Charles Robinson of Tallulah, LA, James Powell of Columbus, GA, Roberta (Carl) Robinson of Tallulah, LA, Albert (Shirley) Powell III of Dallas, TX, Crystal (Ray Charles) Winston of Joliet, IL, Sharon Powell of Tallulah, LA, Barbara (Artis) Brown of Tallulah, LA, and Doris Powell of Tallulah, LA; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bobbie and Percella Watson, both of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Andrews of Cary, MS, and Alberta Watson of Las Vegas, NV; devoted cousin and friend, Mary Bell Whitney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
