Albert Roy Ellis was born on February 9, 1954, in St. Joseph, LA, to the late Albert Brown and Artie Ellis Barnes. Albert was affectionately known as Roy. He attended Tensas Rosenwald High School in St. Joseph, LA. On Monday May 20, 2019, in New Orleans, LA, the sweet spirit of our dear Roy went on to join the Savior in the home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God.
Roy will always be remembered by his loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memories: two sisters, Alethea Barnes-Joe (Kirk) of Detroit, Michigan and Dennell Brown-Kelley (Robert) of Sacramento, CA. Three brothers Michael Barnes of Detroit, Michigan, Edward Barnes (Teonna) of St. Louis, MO and Ronnie Brown of Pittsburgh, CA; six nieces, Tawanna Lyons, Artavia (Tyneisha) and Aletra Barnes, all of Detroit, Michigan, Addison Barnes of St. Louis, MO, Delisheia Kelley of Sacramento, CA and Latoya Brown of Pittsburgh, CA; two nephews, Lonnie and De’Ron Kelley of Sacramento, CA; four aunts, Rose Mary Brown and Lolita Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Serlena Brown-Felix (James) of Flint, MI and Janie Brown-Shaw (Glover) of San Diego, CA; two uncles, Johnnie Mac Brown of Los Angeles, CA, Walter Brown of Surprise, AZ; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Lord gave him to us, and the Lord took him away from us to join the loved ones who preceded him death: his parents, Albert Brown and Artie Ellis Barnes, grandmother, Emma Ellis, who raised him to be a hard-working man, ten uncles and six aunts, and Bobbie Lee Ford, who cared for him until her passing.
