Deacon John Lindsay Lewis was born on March 30, 1951 to the late Lorris Lewis, Sr and Celia Lewis in Saint Joseph, Louisiana.
On Sunday, July 23, 2023, John entered into eternal life at his home doing what he loved: studying the Holy Bible and preparing for Sunday school.
John genuinely loved people and was committed to service in every aspect of his life.
He served his community in various capacities: Deacon and Sunday School teacher, Oneonta Baptist Church, Health Board Member, Tensas Parish Community Health Center and Alderman, Town of Saint Joseph,LA.
In 1969, John graduated from Tensas Rosewald High school. After graduating high school, he attended Grambling State University majoring in business management. Prior to his retirement in 2017, John was employed by Tensas Supply and Tensas Co Op Gin.
John’s hobbies included reading, play puzzles and watching all sports especially his beloved New Orleans Saints.
He leaves to mourn a large family-his devoted wife Loretta, 2 children, 1 son-in law, 1 god child and 4 grandchildren.
He is survived by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, 4 sister in laws, 3 brother in laws, 2 Aunts, 2 Uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
