Mother Lillie Mary Duncan Johnson was born March 10, 1928, to the late Sy and Lillie Johnson Duncan in East Carroll Parish, three miles from Lake Providence, LA, on Doctor Brown Plantation.
She accepted Christ in 1936 at Mt. Mariah No. 2 M.B. Church and baptized by the late Reverend G.C. Coggs. She served as a choir member and later a mother of the church, where she served faithfully until failing health. She graduated from Thomastown High School in 1947. She served as a cafeteria worker for many years. Later she became the custodian and served faithfully until retiring.
Lillie met and married Henry Johnson in 1952. Six children were born to this union. God’s angels came and escorted her to her Heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sy and Lillie Duncan, her husband of 42 years, Henry Johnson; son, Henry Preston Johnson; daughter, Arnetha Johnson Sanders; brother, Jimmie Duncan; and granddaughter, Alexis Island.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons, Marvin (Alease) Johnson of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Felix (Shirley) Johnson and Leonard Ray Johnson of Tallulah, LA; daughter, Beatrice (Albert) Brisco of Vicksburg, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lacey (Preston) Bynum Johnson; grandson whom she raised, Rogers O’Neal; special daughter, Angela Dixon Fredieci; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
