Mr. Charlie McDowell

Mr. Charlie McDowell was born February 15, 1951, to Mrs. Viola McDowell Thomas and Mr. Joe C. White.  He was the first of seven children. He accepted Christ at the age of ten years old and was baptized in 1961 at New St. Mark Baptist Church in Waterproof, Louisiana.

He graduated in 1969 from Tensas Rosenwald in St. Joseph, Louisiana. Upon graduating, Charlie joined the Army, where he served for several years. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Germany.

Upon retiring from the Army, Charlie worked as a laborer and part-time cook in New Orleans. He was a quiet man, who enjoyed watching western and sci-fi movies, as well as reading. Charlie loved his family and helped whenever he could.

Charlie was called home on June 6, 2020, after a brief illness. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; two aunts; one sister, Virgie White; and one brother, Jessie McDowell.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories: his parents, Viola McDowell Thomas of Waterproof, LA, and Joe C. White of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Carolyn Robinson of Ferriday, LA; three brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) McDowell of New Orleans, LA, and Melvin and Reginald McDowell, both of Waldorf, MD; and his loving and caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
