Eugene “Bro” Smith was born on May 9, 1961 to the proud parents of Gertrude Smith and the late Earl Smith.
Eugene was baptized at Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend George Barber.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, one. Sister, Linda, four uncles, Willie, Arthur, Eddie, Issac, two nieces, Shunda, Patricia, four nephews, Frank Doran, Dillon, Conner, grandparents, Marie and William Smith, Sr.
Eugene worked for the Capdepons for a total of 31 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories mother, Gertrude Smith of Newellton, LA.; four children, Marietta of Newellton, LA, Shunquetta of Shreveport, LA., Eugene of Monroe, LA.; Lashunda of Baton Rouge, LA.; and grands, V’Jai, Kelsey, Amiya, Braylon, Kiarra, Kayden, Kamryn; sisters, Patricia, Brenda (Carl), Dorothy, Savannah (Reverend Adrian) all of Newellton, LA; Lonnie Smith of New Orleans, LA.; brothers, Anthony Rae. Of New Orleans, LA., Darnell, E’Bingomon of Texas, Stephen of Newellton, LA.; bonus brother, Nathaniel Guin of Newellton,LA.; special friend, Larry Clark; special niece, Kagan Smith; uncles, William (Thelma) of Newellton, LA., Henry of Tallulah, LA.; aunt, Susie Butterfield and a host of nieces, and nephews.
Eugene was a dedicated father first and foremost. He treasured his children, grandchildren and family. Eugene had a vivacious personality and always made people around him smile. He captured hearts everywhere he went and never met a stranger. One of Eugene’s past time was watching “Swamp People”, “Shoot’em ups” and “The Voice”.
