Mrs. Alice Brandly Obituary

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Alice Marie Sims Brandly Alice Marie Sims Brandly was the 6th of 9 children born to the late Rev. Tomie and Sis. Roberta Sims on August 7, 1954 in Madison Parish, Tallulah, Louisiana. She was introduced to the Lord and began her love of Christ from a young age, accepted Jesus as her personal savior at the age of 10 years old and became a member of Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church for all of her life. She attended the public schools in the Tallulah School System and graduated from Reuben McCall Senior High School in 1974. Alice met and was courted by Lee Arthur Brandly Sr. On November 23, 1974, Alice, who was designed especially for him, married Lee Arthur; they shared a beautiful marriage for 44 years and from this union raised 5 sons. She continued her education at Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ULM of Monroe, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech of Ruston, Louisiana and graduated with her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Grambling State University of Louisiana. She began her teaching career with Madison Parish School District for over 36 years, retired and then rehired the next day to continue to influence and better the lives of her students with special needs until her retirement in 2018. She couldn’t let go of her love for special needs students and decided to return to work with the Port Gibson School District, Mississippi until her going home to be with her Lord. She worked for 45 years teaching and giving her love to her students with special needs and being an advocate for that community of students even after graduation. But out of all of her education and most of all, Alice loved God and she still was being educated by God through his Holy Spirit. Alice was a great influence with the youth of her church and community. She taught them the word of God thru Sunday School and thru the arts. Alice’s ministry work included being an Administrative Security of the Madison Parish Baptist Association Sunday School Convention for a number of years. Alice was blessed to use her gift of the Holy Spirit and was used by God to go around spreading God’s word thru speaking and fellowshipping with other church ministries throughout the city and the surrounding area throughout North Louisiana and Mississippi until her passing. She would create and write skits which would bless us with characters like “The Old Lady”, that would remind us of the old-time church and that we had to give our lives to the Lord before we leave this earth. God decided that it was her time, came and took one of his most precious flowers, Alice home to be with Him on September 11, 2019. She was preceded in her passing by her parents, Rev. Tomie and Sis. Roberta Sims and 2 brothers, Tomie Lee Sims, and George Sims. She leaves to celebrate her legacy, her husband, Lee Arthur Brandly Sr., 5 sons, Trumone R. Sims (Cedra), Trumell D. Sims, Lee A. Brandly Jr. (Zavala), Trumane Q. Brandly, and Trumarria D. Brandly (Bobbi); 2 brothers, Jerry Sims (Lillian), Levi Sims Sr. (Joanne); 5 sisters, Maple (Floyd-deceased), Nancy Williams (Gregory), Rosie Sims Byrom (Don), Rita Sims Ashley (Arthur), Roberta Sims Heater (Ronald); 1 brother in law, John Brandly (Linda) and 1 sister in law , Shirley Sims (George-deceased). She has 10 grandchildren, Archele, Zephanie, Tianessa, Tahja, Chase, Kirsten, Kaitlyn, Caius, Olivia and Trumarria Jr. One great grandchild, Ai’yanna. Alice was full of fun, life, beauty, laughter, unconditional love and wisdom and instilled these attributes within her family (host of nephews, nieces, cousins, sister in laws, and brother in laws), friends, and students she leaves behind in her legacy. “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:30-31 NKJV)
