My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength
of my heart, and my portion forever. ~Psalm 73:26
Mary Ruth’s Favorite Scripture
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You believe in God; believe also in me.” ~John 14:1
Mary Ruth Simpson Moffett was born October 20, 1951, in East Carroll Parish to Ruthie Lee Alexander Simpson and the late Johnnie Simpson, Sr.
Mary Ruth accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend R.B. Allen at Mt. Wade Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to St. Paul Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Don W. Best, serving many years as an usher, on the cooking committee, and on the mother board. Mary then decided, before taking her flight, that she wanted to return to where she first accepted Christ and that was at Mt. Wade Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John McCorttrey. She served there until her departure on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Richland Parish Hospital, where she was ushered into eternity.
Mary Ruth was united in holy matrimony to the late Earl Moffett on January 2, 971. To that union, three lovely children were born, and two were adopted into his fatherly care.
Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Johnnie Simpson, Sr.; husband, Earl Moffett; two brothers, Johnnie Simpson, Jr., and Joseph Simpson; and many, many more.
