Mrs. Sally Pollard Obituary

Obituary

A Time to Be Born

Sally S. Pollard was born March 27, 1951, to the late Josephine Brown in St. Joseph, LA. Sally was the youngest of ten children.

A Time to Rejoice

Sally was baptized at an early age by the late Alex Earl, Sr. For over 50 years, she was a faithful member of Old China Grove Baptist Church, where she served as choir director and treasurer, until her death.

A Time to Acquire

Sally was a 1969 graduate of Tensas Rosenwald High School. She also attended North East Trade School in Winnsboro, LA, where she graduated with a business degree.

A Time to Love

Sally married Jesse Pollard in 1968. To this union, three beautiful children were born, Lisa, Tanya, and Jesse Pollard, Jr. Sally loved her family dearly and would do anything for her children and grandchildren.

A Time to Enjoy

Only the love for her family outweighed her love for music. Sally was the lead singer of “The Pollard Family Band,” where she and Jesse gained the name “Ike and Tina.” She was well-known for performing “Purple Rain” and “Don’t Mess Wit my Toot Toot.” Sally also had a great love for playing spades and pool. You better not have told her she wasn’t the best at shooting pool or that she wasn’t the “Queen of Spades.”

A Time to Die

Sally passed away Friday, March 27, 2020. She is preceded in death by her mother, her husband, her daughter, and seven siblings.

A Time to Mourn

She leaves to cherish all her fun-loving memories: her daughters, Tanya Pollard (Andre) of Saint Joseph, LA, and Kia Bates (Brodric) of Augusta, GA; son, Jesse Pollard, Jr. (Emily), of Grand Prairie, TX; stepsons, Jesse Lee and Justin Weeks (Tameka), both of Las Vegas, NV; ten grandchildren, Amber, Timothy Jr., Jayla, Dallas, Jesse III, Jada, Jasmine, Laiklyn, Raegan, and Jesse Jr.; great-granddaughter, Parker; two siblings, Sadie Turner of Lake Providence, LA, and Claria Weatherall of Saint Joseph, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
