Sister Vera Lee Foster was born on November 4, 1946, to Gennie V. Bynum and Jim Bynum. At the age of six, she enrolled in Wright Elementary located on Fish Street. At the age of eight, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She was baptized in August 1956, by Pastor Richard Cannon. She continued her education at McCall Junior High and McCall Senior High. She graduated on May 28, 1966. She attended Southern University for a year. Later, she enrolled in nursing school at Lake Providence.
She graduated and became a licensed pratical nurse. She worked at Madison Parish Nursing Home until it closed. Later, she went to work at Home Health. After the business changed hands, she started to work for Madison Parish Hospital, until her retirement. She was active in the political arena.
She met and married Charles Foster, and his kids accepted her as their mother. She was devoted to her mother, Jennie Bynum, and her husband, Charles Foster. She was active in the church and attended Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and was a church secretary. Truly, may the work she’s done speak for her.
She leaves to mourn her passing with: three sons, Jeffery Bynum of Tallulah, LA, Charles Foster III of Tallulah, LA, and Cedric Foster (Semetra) of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Freddie Bynum of Elsinore, CA, and Cornell Bynum; one sister, Yvonne Bynum both of Long Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Ashlee Warner, Ja’Marlon Foster, and Jeffery Bynum, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; two goddaughters, Sharon Meadows and Tavi Turner; and a host nieces and nephews.
God saw fit that her assignment on earth was done, and on September 15, 2019, he dispatched an angel to escort her to glory. Take your rest.
