Ms. Hermanetta Jackson Obituary

Hermanetta Jackson, affectionately known as Neny, was born on July 5, 1955, to Herman and Annie Bell Jackson in Waterproof, Louisiana.
In her childhood, she attended Libson Elementary School. Hermanetta was a graduate of Waterproof High School class of 1973. She was a proud graduate of the Southern University A&M College in 1977, where she was a graduate and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education.


Hermanetta began her teaching career in Houma and spent 36 years at Houma Junior High. In 2016, Hermanetta Jackson retired from the Terrebonne Parish School System. Her time at HJH was well spent as a Special Education teacher. She was an active member, volunteering for various sports and school dances. She loved her Bulldog family and the meaningful friendships. She was a devoted mother to Chancey Jackson; both shared a passion for Education. In her final years leading up to retirement, they shared the joy of teaching together.
 Hermanetta Jackson was a faithful member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church of Houma La. Pastored by G.R, Washington Jr.

She departs to live her legacy and enjoy her memories. Son, Chancey Jackson of Houma, her mother, Annie Bell Jackson of Waterproof, Louisiana; five sisters, Carrie (Darryl) Reed of Chicago, Illinois,, Thelma (Charles Ray) Scott of New Orleans, Louisiana; Bessie Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jill Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Kenneth Jackson of Waterproof, Louisiana, Jerome (Tammy) Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Althea Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. She was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandmothers; her father, Herman Jackson; her sister Linda Crump; and two brothers, Robert Earl and Herman Jackson, Jr.
